This chart is provided as a guideline only. In all cases it is advisable to have a competent installation company correctly size the appropriate unit and advise on a location which is both practical and will give the best performance from the equipment installed.

How Long Will It Take To Start Heating?

The Heat Pump will take sometime to switch on in the heating mode. Don’t be concerned if it doesn’t happen straight away – it can take between 4 – 5 minutes. It is designed not to blow cool air before it is ready to heat. This is also the case when you switch between heating and cooling modes and in the de-frosting mode.

When Should I Turn On My Heat Pump?

It is recommend that in colder months, ie: between May and September, the Heat Pump is left running 24/7 – just adjust the temperature up and down to suit the comfort level of house – generally 21-22 deg.

When leaving home or going to bed, turn the temperature down to its lowest setting. This way has been recommended as the most cost effective method of running a heat pump and also allows the desired temperatures to be obtained quicker.

An analogy is the hotwater cylinder. It is more cost effective to heat and maintain the temperature of the water than to heat from scratch each time we want it.

How Do I Operate The System?

Remote Control
Its all done via the remote control with an almost set and forget approach.
Don’t play around with the remote, as it can confuse the system. Remember that you have got a intelligent device constantly analysing the enviroment.

The indoor unit will beep every time it receives a command from the remote and if you don’t hear a beep while making adjustments it is likely that the unit has not registered the command.

What is a fixed speed spilt system?

This system only has a single speed compressor motor that is either on or off
It works similar to a fan heater that switches off when the desired temperature is reached and on again when the temperature drops to a set level.

What does inverter mean?

Inverter systems are one of the biggest technical breakthroughs of the last 4years.
They use a variable speed electric motor that slows down and speeds up as needed to maintain an even temperature.

Inverter vs fixed

Inverter systems are approximately 30% more efficient then fixed systems and electricity companies like them because they do not create surges in the demand for electricity.

The speed control of the outdoor unit also means a quieter operation.
Inverter systems reach the desired room temperature quicker and more precisely without the temperature fluctuations of fixed speed systems.

What is the cost of installation?

The average cost of a back to back installation is around $700.

What maintenance do I need to do?

The indoor unit has two filters and should be checked for the first time one month after installation.

This will give you and idea of when to clean the next time.

The cleaning can be done by a vacuum cleaner or rinsing under a tap.

The cleaner the filter – the more efficient the system will be.

The outdoor unit needs to be kept free of debris etc. like leaves and twigs and should have no obstruction front or rear.
